Understanding Overdose

The first time we kissed at midnight.

Your lips were icy, and eyes were missing.

I held your lifeless hand against mine, and

Put it, fingers splayed, against my chest

So, you could feel my racing heart

And my lungs breathe.

Please just mimic my breathing! I screamed.

Do as I do! Breathe!

Wake up, breathe like me! Breathe.

I blow oven-like breath into your lungs.

You inflate, then deflate when I stop kissing you.

Then I deflate. Again, and again.

Then I admit defeat.
