Hammerhead
The first time we met,
I thought you were as charming
As hammerhead.
Tool or the shark.
The first time we kissed
The felt so nauseated, it was
As if a cherry bomb blew up
My ulcer-riddled stomach.
The high school prom dance
Felt like dancing with a
King Cobra; no arms, no legs,
Or a soul, only venom, but
I kept coming back to your calls,
Your cries, your wants and needs,
Because after all, I am an
Addict and you always momentarily
Fixed me, while deceptively and
Slowly killing me from the inside out
Some days I wish you
Would just finish the job you started,
Now, I’m coming for you.
Never shut your eyes when you sleep.
Never take your eyes of your six.
You’ll never take me again.
