Caterpillar Masterpieces
Eagle Scout dedication, the
March of legs to a story piece relics
Of historical controversy.
Claims of solidarity, the
Liar’s cries ring loudly in ears
Of the iron willed.
Twenty-some legged, the
Uncanny amount of steps you take
To backtrack each tall tale.
I don’t want to live this way, the
Way of the used and abused.
Change is palpable.
Hibernation of eternal tears, the
Chrysalis is formed to grieve alone.
Time never moves, but it does forward.
Letting go, untethered weightlessly, the
Heartstrings unencumbered and ready
To emerge from a silent slumber.
Restarted from black and white, the
Me I once was withered away
And now I see in color ready to flutter by.
Utter words of joyful Irish butter, the
Richness of a one chance one life,
Where all is possible, I rejoice.
