In Godspeed, Good Man, and the main character, Harrison Goodman, a reluctant self-induced recluse is grieving the loss of his wife. Cut off to family, friends, and church, he spends his days reading obituaries, listening to old jazz, and drinking whisky out of a coffee mug. Until, one day he finds index card files full of his wife’s old recipes. He decides to bring her spirit back into the house by teaching himself how to cook the recipes she made for him over the years. Unfortunately, while reliving those memories, they also dredge memories he would rather have stayed hidden forever. He eventually opens up to his daughters about what actually happened on his wife's last day alive. This book has heart, heartache, and had an ending that will shock the reader.
