LOSING YOUR PERSON

It’s the way you blew me off,

It’s like swallowing dehydration water, it

Means I can’t drown like I want to.

I just keep ploddingly breathing.

Dustwinds in the back of my throat,

This life-giving oxygen pricks as it

Goes down.        It should be yours.

The drugs don’t toil for me

Anymore, but I have to keep

Taking them because I’m addicted now.

Much like I am to              you.

I understand now how

People can believe in fairy tales,

Like the Bible or Dianetics.

We hold onto hope. And

I really hope, I’m coming around to it

All is well on the other side,

Because here on earth

It still hurts.

I hope to see you again                  someday.
