Clarity

It was in this moment,

I realized I was brushing my teeth with a shaving razor.

This vision of me was the vision of a polar bear

With a mouth full of artic seal carcass.

The phone call from God

I was receiving was meant to keep me awake.

I am an animal,

Nothing more,

Nothing less.

To be just that,

To eat and sleep and dream.

To tear off my clothes and run wildly

Through my dreams, making a mockery

Of all things that everyone thought that I should be.

Is truth in honesty, that I am just me.

Nothing more,

Nothing less.

Living a life, through others eyes and wishes,

Feels like creatures in a cage looking out

Upon others with everything.

The howler monkeys scream in distress,

And our blood curdles, and clogs my heart,

It penetrates clarity,

Nothing more,

Nothing less.

Good captain, I’ll walk ‘nd I’ll walk some more.

For the freeness of the longest of roads,

Is laid with footsteps of troubles heads before.

Placing my feet ahead of me,

To leave my shoes empty for others to steps in to,

Is all I have left to give you.

Nothing less,

Nothing more.

To all the poet not yet born,

Feel borne into holding sheep accountable

Be the naked wolf that grins

In the faces of those who try to keep you chained up,

And sometimes, it WILL be your own head.

Find the truth and honesty in life,

Nothing more,

Nothing less.
